Kölsh and Cans at 21st Amendment

I recently joined Twitter, and while I might not be the ardent anti-twitter fanatic I once was, I’m not quite yet 100% sold on the medium either.  That balance is slowly shifting though, as I find the sweet spot for how twitter can be most useful. For example, when about to head out to a Giants game, […]

Mission Street Food 5/21/09

I’ll get strait to the point: foie on a stick!     Actually it’s not just foie – there is also a duck heart and mushroom on there too. Now that we have that out of the way, let’s go back to the beginning.  This week, MSF played host to Jordan Grosser and Ted Fleury, the […]

Flour + Water First Visit

This past weekend brought out unusually hot weather again.  The solution: cool off with a scoop from Humphry Slocombe.  It turned out we weren’t the only ones with this idea, and it had been a record setting day for the local ice cream shop.        After a scoop to cool down, we continued down Harrison to […]

On a cold, windy San Francisco night, German cuisine can be just what you need to warm your insides, and steel your body for the cold German winter ahead. OK, so maybe we won’t be facing real winters here in California – or the Russian army for that matter – but German food still has […]

Baby Beets

The farmer’s market this week revealed a special treat: teensy-winsy baby beets, with adorable little beer greens attached on top. These miniaturized beets are perfectly balanced with sweetness coming from the minuscule beet roots, and slight bitterness from the attached greens. With them being so photogenic and colorful, i kept them whole.  In doing so, I avoided […]

Interviewed by Draft Magazine

I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by Draft Magazine for the Beer Director’s Blog. Rick and I talked about how to get the best beer pictures possible with the camera you already own, and some what to do to take your pictures to the next level.  It gets pretty technical, and […]
